DDA Forensics Forensic Engineering Team Leads the Way in Education & Accreditations
MIAMI — Dr. Manuel Matus, Civil & Structural Engineer at DDA Forensics, earned the Master Level Certification from Haag (HCI-Master). This advanced designation is the highest offered by Haag Education and recognizes elite expertise in damage assessment across residential and commercial roofs, as well as wind-related structural failures. To achieve the HCI-Master Level, professionals must hold active certifications in Haag’s Residential Roof (HCI-R), Commercial Roof (HCI-C), and Wind Damage (HCI-W) programs and pass exam requirements.
Dr. Matus brings a wealth of academic and practical experience to DDA Forensics. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from Florida International University (FIU), where he also serves as an Adjunct Professor. His research on wind-induced loads has contributed to updates in the ASCE 7-22 code, enhancing building safety standards. Matus has been a researcher at the Wall of Wind (WOW) Experimental Facility for nearly three years under the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) program. His research focuses on the investigation of wind-induced loads on structures.
“Manuel’s latest achievement underscores our commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence. His dedication to advancing structural resilience through both research and fieldwork exemplifies the high standards we uphold,” said Brian Peterson, Managing Partner at DDA Forensics.
Utilizing engineering principles and advanced simulation techniques, Matus determines the root cause of failures, assessing factors such as human error, design flaws, and manufacturing defects. His expertise in wind damage assessment and building code development makes him a valuable asset in forensic engineering, where his findings contribute to safer engineering practices and improved structural resilience.
“Known as one of our esteemed ‘Wind Doctors,’ Manuel has extensive expertise in wind damage assessment, building code development, and structural analysis. His commitment to ongoing education and accreditations contributes to safer engineering practices and improved structural resilience across the board,” says Jonathon Diego, Managing Partner, DDA Forensics.
