We’re proud to spotlight Dr. Ziad Azzi, our Director of Engineering, whose expertise and leadership continue to shape the success of our forensic engineering team. From solving complex structural failures to mentoring the next generation of engineers, Dr. Azzi possesses a rare mix of technical skill, business savvy, and a deep passion for the industry.

Why are you passionate about the Industry?

I’ve always been fascinated by how things are built, and more importantly, how they fail. Forensic engineering allows me to apply science and engineering principles to solve real-world problems, often when the stakes are high for property owners, attorneys, and insurers. There’s something incredibly rewarding about uncovering the “why” behind structural failures and helping bring clarity to complex issues. I’m also very passionate about education and teaching. Whether explaining a concept to a jury as an expert witness, or to a college classroom as a professor or guest lecturer, I love teaching engineering concepts, especially on wind flow.

What do you enjoy most about working with DDA Forensics clients?

Our clients rely on precision, timeliness, and expert insights, and that’s where we shine. I enjoy being on a team they can count on to provide objective analysis and clear reports that help move claims or litigation forward. It’s rewarding to know that our work helps guide critical decisions and resolution strategies.

What do you like most about the DDA Forensics company culture?

DDA Forensics is truly a team of driven professionals who are committed to quality, integrity, and continuous learning. The culture is collaborative and fast-paced, yet supportive. We’re encouraged to innovate, grow, and lead in our respective specialties.

What do you think is your biggest business strength?

I believe that I contribute a unique blend of technical expertise and communication skills to the industry. With a PhD in Structural Engineering and extensive experience in the classroom, I can analyze intricate structural issues and explain them clearly to clients who may not have an engineering or technical background. That ability to communicate technical concepts in an easy-to-understand manner has been instrumental in building trust and delivering value.

What are some successes or milestones you’ve achieved at DDA Forensics?

Since joining DDA Forensics in 2021, I’m very proud of my promotion to Director of Engineering last year. I’ve helped lead the department through strategic growth and grow our engineering team across 7 states. I’ve also been invited to present at numerous industry conferences and publish research that contributes to our field, including work on wind flow and building performance.
