Following the Surfside collapse, Florida enacted laws requiring Milestone Structural Inspections for all residential buildings that are three or more stories tall.
- These buildings must have a Milestone Inspection by the time they turn 30 years old and then every 10 years thereafter.
- For buildings that reached 30 years before July 1, 2022, the initial inspection deadline was extended to December 31, 2024, and then to December 31, 2025, due to the follow-up bill.
