Achievement Reflects Advanced Technical Qualifications and Commitment to Professional Standards in Forensic Engineering

MIAMIDr. Manuel Matus, Civil & Structural Engineer at DDA Forensics, earned his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE) and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).

The FPBE is committed to protecting the interests of public health and safety by regulating the practice of engineering. NCEES is a non-profit organization that develops, administers, and scores the exams for professional engineering and surveying licensure in the U.S., ensuring qualified individuals protect public health and safety by setting uniform standards, providing exams, and facilitating mobility between states.

“This allows me to provide licensed, defensible engineering opinions that directly support our clients and their cases. I’m grateful for the mentorship and opportunities at DDA Forensics that helped me reach this milestone. Balancing full-time forensic work, serving as an Adjunct Professor at FIU, and consulting with the Wall of Wind has been incredibly rewarding, but it made finding time to study a real challenge. Consistency and determination finally paid off,” says Matus.

Matus joins the company’s growing team of licensed and credentialed engineers who support the insurance and legal industries with objective, science-based analysis. His expertise in wind damage assessment and building code development makes him an invaluable asset in forensic engineering, where his findings contribute to safer engineering practices and improved structural resilience.

“Manuel brings an exceptional level of education and scientifically backed experience to every investigation. Earning his P.E. license reflects the same commitment to excellence our clients see in his work every day,” says Jonathon Diego, Managing Partner, DDA Forensics.

Matus holds a doctorate in Civil Engineering, specializing in wind engineering and the effects of extreme wind events on civil infrastructure. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of engineers. He is actively involved in the National Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) Design Safe program, mentoring undergraduate students in natural hazards engineering and inspiring them to pursue careers in this vital field.  He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Florida International University (FIU), where he teaches undergraduate-level courses.
